Judgement of the woman upon a scarlet Beast

"I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns." Revelation 17:5

The mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carried her is revealed;

The Woman

"And this woman you saw in your vision represents the great city that rules over the kings of the earth." Revelation 17:18

I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration, vs 6
 "And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." Revelation 17:5

That's the reason it was built;

"The kings of the world have had immoral relations with her, and the people of the earth have been made drunk by the wine of her immorality." Revelation 17:2
Scarlet Beast

A seat of idolatry and cruel oppressive governments, will deceive people except the remnant of the elect.

The Trumpet Judgements

"Then the seven angels with the seven trumpets prepared to blow their mighty blasts." Revelation 8:6

God's wrath is here!

As horrible as the seal judgments were, the trumpet judgments will be worse. The first 4 announce destruction of earth’s ecology, while the final 3 concerns great devastation of the earth’s inhabitants.

The first angel blew his trumpet

 "The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up." Revelation 8:7

hail and fire mixed with blood were thrown down upon the earth.one-third of the earth was set on fire one-third of the trees were burned, and all the green grass.
The second angel blew his trumpet

 "And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and…

The four horses

The Lamb, Christ opened the first seal and John looked and  saw;

1. A white horse. (6 vs 2)
Its rider carried a bow, and a crown was placed upon his head; he rode out to conquer in many battles and win the war.
a time of peace, progress and victory and success in every way, be it evangelism, everything going as intended.  2. A Red horse. (6 vs 4)
Times of desolation, judgment, war and persecution.
- All happening to "...take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another..."

3.  A black horse (6 vs 5)
woe, mourning and darkness and ignorance. "For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee." Isaiah 60:2  He that sat on it had a pair of balances in his hand meaning;
the knowledge and practice of true religion will became scarce. famine of the word of God and of true religionthe necessities of life will be at excessive prices, and more costly. 4. Pale…

The Little Open Book

Another powerful Angel (probably the Lord) had a little book open in his hand, when he called out - the Seven Thunders also called back.

We do not know what was echoed by the seven thunders, nor was the reason for suppressing them.  All we know is John was told to "Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not." Revelation 10:4
 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets." (Revelation 10:7). At the end of the prophecies, time should be no more. John eats the little book
And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth." Revelation 10:8  He took the little book out of the hand of the angel, and ate it up; and lo, it was in his mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as he had eaten it, …

Things which must be hereafter - Part 2

The vision of the seals
These seals express events to be fulfilled;

1st Seal: The Conquerer
 "… the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer…" Revelation 6:1-2

The Four beasts
We saw them in Revelation 4:7, "And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle."

Lion - the prophecy of victory, (the first seal).
Calf - a symbol of slaughter, war and persecution, (the second seal).
Man - a symbol of heresy and false opinions, (the third seal).
Eagle - a symbol of resurrection and the forerunner of the final victory of the just over the death and Hades, (the fourth seal).

2nd Seal: Conflict on Earth
 "And when he had opened the second seal, I h…

Who is worthy to open the book?

"And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?" Revelation 5:2

The book was written on the inside and on the back, and sealed with seven seals. This book was sealed, i.e. made under seal and so was treated differently from other written books. A seal is an emblem used as a means of authentication.
No one in all heaven or earth or from among the dead was permitted to open and read this book expect the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, who has conquered, and has proved himself worthy to open the book and to break its seven seals.

The Lamb

"...beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth." Revelation 5:6

stood a Lamb as it had been slain, "for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by t…

Things which must be hereafter - Part 1

Heaven is revealed

"After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne." Revelation 4:1-2

John was in the spirit, and in heaven he saw;

1. A throne and someone sitting on it, vs 2

he that sat upon it (God) looked like a jasper and a sardine stone, (God's perfection and eternity) a rainbow (type of God's consolatory promises or covenant) glowing like an emerald encircled his throne, lightning and thunder (judgement) were issued from the throne, and there were voices in the thunder, vs 5
2. Twenty-four smaller thrones with twenty-four Elders sitting on them, were round about the throne, vs 4

the elders (well known people who are representatives of God's people) were all clothed in white, with gol…

The church of Laodicea

"I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." Revelation 3:15-16

Jesus identifies Himself as: “The Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation.” These titles emphasize the Lord’s faithfulness, sovereignty, and power to bring all things to their proper completion - He is the “Amen."

Sometimes we ask ourselves; what happened to this early church, how come it dwindled? Here is the answer, Jesus said, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am about to spit you out of my mouth."

Jesus would expect us to be hot. Remember how he approached this fig tree expecting fruit; "And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found not…

The Church in Philadelphia

"I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee." Revelation 3:8-9

I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it, vs 8

What a tremendous promise from "...he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth." Revelation 3:7

I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it!

First, he has the key to heaven itself, that which David had, "he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth."

In John 13:12-16 He says,

"...Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye…

The Church in Sardis

"...This message is sent to you by the one who has the sevenfold Spirit of God and the seven stars. "I know your reputation as a live and active church, but you are dead."" Revelation 3:1 TLB

I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead, vs 1

When God looks at us he's happy seeing us holy just as he's holy. 1 Peter 1:15 says, "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." It does not empress him at all to say, Lord I'm trying! But the calling is, "be ye holy; for I am holy."

The problem with this church was pretence; they had a reputation as a live and active church but their works were not perfect before God, they were spiritually dead.

Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, vs 2

True believers should always be on the lookout, if their works are perfect before God. If that’s the cas…

The church in Thyatira

“I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.” Revelation 2:19 KJV

Christ commended their charity, their service, their ministration, their faith, their patience and their growing fruitfulness that they were growing wiser and better.

It should be your desire as christians that your last works may be your best works, that you may be better and better every day, and be best at last.

However something not so direct was amiss, and they got reproved for it;

Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.” Revelation 2:20-21

Some wicked seducers were among them; the church’s fault was that they allowed wicked people to take advantage of them. Jezebel was a per…

To the the church in Pergamos

"And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is : and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written,…

To the church in Smyrna

"....These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; [9] I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. [10] Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. [11] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death." Revelation 2:8-11 KJV

He takes notice of the improvement they had made in their spiritual lives.

"...be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life."

I'm glad he said it, one day we shall all die, and a crown of life awaits only those faithful unto death, those poor in this word, but rich in the spirituals; poor in spirit …

Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus

Church ministers sometimes are called  'angels' because they are the messengers of God to mankind.

"...These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks..."
Christ holds the seven stars in his right handChrist walks amidst the seven golden candlestick just as he promised, "...and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Matthew 28:20).
If he's amidst of the churches he's also able to know;

our works, and thy labour, and thy patience for himtrue and those false labourers too
Another revelation is true believers have this ability in them;

to be able to try spirits, especially to try those that say they are apostles when they are not, and not be afraid to deem them liars. (ref. verse 2).they've ears to hear "what the Spirit saith unto the churches"they hate "the deeds of the Nicolaitans" which is evil, and is heresy.
The Nicolai…
