Lord, teach us to pray!

We go to church, but unfortunately many of us go intriguing for our own benefits, not God’s. In Zechariah’s days some also went to church, to seek a blessing and to speak with the priests and prophets about "whether they must continue their traditional custom of fasting...as they had been doing for so long" Zechariah 7:3.

The thing is they were crying to God, but God would not hear. They never tried to figure out why God was ignoring them. I like it when we persist, but only in well doing.

Anyway, the Lord asked them, when you fast and mourn, are you really earnest about leaving your sins behind and coming back to me or you do it for your own benefit?

We’re not saved to profit carnally; ”It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life" John 6:63.

The prophets warned it will surely lead to ruin if we continue with that attitude.

In regard to fasting, God says, "Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?" Isaiah 58:6. But did they listen? "Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the Lord of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the Lord of hosts" Zechariah 7:12. Paul said, "For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God" Romans 10:2-3.

That’s all we see in many church today - a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. Many of us even establish our own righteousness. But God says to Zachariah, as "I called, but they refused to listen, so when they cried to me, I turned away" Zechariah 7:13.

You want God to bless you; go to church, intriguing for his will to be done. Jesus said, "When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth."

God bless,
Laurence

The office of a bishop!

"A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach." 1 Timothy 3:2
You got to tick all the boxes to be a bishop, not to tick tick the only one box that suits you most, but all. It‘s not enough only to be able to teach whilst you fail on the other aspects. A bishop must be blameless and beyond reproach, the husband of one wife, self-controlled, sensible, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not addicted to wine, not a bully, but gentle, considerate, and free from the love of money. Now consider also your leader, if he/she can teach, but falls short on the other characteristics then you should know you’re both liable to falling into the devil’s trap. How will he/she take care of the church of God while ethically wrong?
Paul says, "These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, …

Who are you following?

Each and every one of us will follow someone, however the person you follow will either lead you to fulfil your potential or will lead you to the wrong place.
Who are you following? A deaf-blind leader always lead someone into a ditch. Paul said, "Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour." Ephesians 5:1-2
He reminds us of who to follow and that person is none other than God himself who’s to lead you until you encounter his purpose and will.
Following God will lead you to a new birth with Jesus, and life in the spirit. You never go wrong with his plan. But if you follow people they’ll lead you to all uncleanness; idolatry, covetousness and fornication. "For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope..."Romans 8:20.

"Be not ye therefore partakers …

Christ in you the hope of glory!

God created all things by Jesus Christ, "In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him" Ephesians 3:12
Faith, not your own, but that we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him, Jesus Christ our Lord.
By the faith of him, "the dispensation of the grace of God", was given to us also. Paul says, "by revelation he made known unto me the mystery...Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed...by the Spirit." Ephesians 3:3-5. The revelation is unique my friend.
He wrote also saying, "Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ." Ephesians 3:8-9. We don’t just fellowship anyway anyway but we’re enlightened, an…
