Let us go on unto perfection!

Simple Gospel Summation
Reverend Muzembi
"Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God" Hebrews 6:1 KJV.

This is what happened to you when you got born again;

  1. You received and understood the Gospel
  2. You realised how good the word of God is
  3. You shared in the Holy Spirit
  4. You tasted for yourself the good things of heaven
  5. You tasted the powers of the world to come, and last but not least
  6. You received Christ.

So now that you’re born again, the Lord willing, you need to go on to other things, that will make you even more stronger, and more mature in the faith. For "when the ground soaks up the falling rain and bears a good crop for the farmer, it has God's blessing. But if a field bears thorns and thistles, it is useless. The farmer will soon condemn that field and burn it." Hebrews 6:7-8. This simply means, you have to demonstrate that you’re born of God. This you do when you bring "forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance..." Luke 3:8.

"And this will we do, if God permit" Hebrews 6:3.

The writer says, "beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak" Hebrews 6:9. We’re persuaded better things of you;

  • that you will leave the principles of the doctrine of Christ, and move on unto perfection.
  • that you will bring forth fruit.
  • that you will serve Christ, and minister to the saints, and do minister.

"And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises" Hebrews 6:11-12.

God has given us salvation, both by his promise and his oath, two things we can completely count on, for it is impossible for God to tell a lie. This hope of being saved is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls, connecting us with God himself. We have strong consolation in Christ, who is gone ahead to plead for us from his position as our High Priest.

God bless,
Laurence

Sit down, Martha!

The story of Martha and Mary tells us that there are two types of Christians out there; where one is a worshipper and another is a waitperson or server.You can choose what you want to be, that’s to be a worshipper or server.But listen to this before you do;"Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me." And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."" Luke 10:38-42.Mary chose the best part, to sit down at his feet and not be worried, frustrated, confused and troubled ab…

Your fellowship in the gospel

As we fellowship with each other as believers, remember that our fellowship is only in the gospel. We love the brotherhood with the affection of Jesus Christ only, nothing more.Apostle Paul says, "And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God," Philippians 1:9-11.So, as you fellowship with other believers, always remember that your job as a Christian is to ensure the progress of others and joy of faith, and to defend the gospel. The Apostle says, "Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so...that you may stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel." Philippians 1:27.Be like-minded; help each other, work together with one heart, be warm-h…

The Lord’s Supper - Do this in remembrance of Me

Jesus prepared for the passover with his disciples, and then "He said to them, "With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God." Luke 22:15-16He would no longer eat of it because He’s the Fulfilment of the Passover.The Passover lamb was prepared/ killed a day before The Passover Feast, a day Jews commemorate their deliverance from slavery in Egypt. On Passover, Jews also celebrate the birth of the Jewish nation after being freed by God from captivity.Jesus is the fulfilment of the Passover. He is the Lamb of God, sacrificed to set us free from bondage to sin (John 1:29; Psalm 22; Isaiah 53). The blood of Jesus covers and protects us, and his body was broken to free us from eternal death (1 Corinthians 5:7).In the Jewish tradition, a hymn of praise known as the Hallel is sung during the Passover Seder. In it is Psalm 118:22, speaking of the Messiah:…
