What’s my job?
I am God’s messenger, an apostle if you like, responsible to no mere man, but Christ himself, and that I do is enlist you for the race, so that you may run your race too, and run much so to win."For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more" 1 Corinthians 9:19. I have freely and happily become a servant of any and all so that I can win them to Christ.
Do I have rights at all?
Of course I do. I can claim the same power or privileges the other apostles have to burden you. Instead of me working, I can make demands of you to give towards my needs, pay my expenses, and that I eat your food, and this you will do because God commands you to, "...that Christian workers should be paid by those they help. Those who do the plowing and threshing should expect some share of the harvest. We have planted good spiritual seed in your souls. Is it too much to ask, in return, for mere food and clothing? 1 Corinthians 9:9 -11.In the same way the Lord has given orders that those who preach the Gospel should be supported by those who accept it. Paul support this by saying, "... I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me" Galatians 4:15.
"If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ" 1 Corinthians 9:12.
I would rather die of hunger than lose the satisfaction I get from preaching to you without charge.
What is my pay?
It is the special joy I get from preaching the Gospel without expense to anyone, never demanding my rights. What’s the purpose?
That I win you, that you fight on, and run until you obtain.God bless,
Laurence
