How you will abide in His love
He said, "if you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love." John 15:10.
- Keep His commandments and you will abide in His love.
He said, "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." John 15:12-14.
Love the brotherhood in the same way he has loved his Church; be ready to lay down your life for them, and when you do this you will abide in His love and become His friends.
In John 13:17 He said; "If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them."
What things?
He said, "For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you" John 13:15.
What had he done?
He had "rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded" John 13:4-5.
This didn’t come from nowhere, but many good things he had done for them, and when He knew these were his seed and his fruit who would further grow his work, and "that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end" John 13:1. This he did because he cared so much for them, he loved them and could do anything for them.
He said, "No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another" John 15:15-17.
Here is love; you did not choose Him, but He chose you, He first loved you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain.
He said abide in My love, and you will be My friends, if you would love one another, and keep my word, you’re My friends, and "all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you."
Look, when you bear fruit, fruit that remain, He says "whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you."
