Does it sound familiar?
Anyway despite people’s personal opinions, He stood up to teach in the temple, and the Jews marvelled, saying, “How is this man so learned, since he hasn’t been trained?”
These were the Pharisees, Sadducees, elders and scribes.
Jesus answered them, "My teaching isn't mine but is from the one who sent me. If anyone wants to do his will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own. The one who speaks on his own seeks his own glory; but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is true, and there is no unrighteousness in him" John 7:16-18.
I know I teach, but the doctrine or teaching isn’t mine. God never send us to teach our own thoughts, or ways, this is why we quote scriptures. Myself I did a little Theology, Psychology or Philosophy, but He didn’t sent me to teach that either, no, not the wisdom of this world, nor Moses, but I teach Christ and him crucified. That’s why I remove all the religious jargon because it’s mumbo jumbo that saves us, but a simple gospel summation.
He said, anyone presenting his own ideas is looking for praise for himself, but anyone seeking to honor the one who sent him is a good and true person. Jesus said, "If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority" John 7:17.
The Jews marvelled, not only they, but His brothers also. These never seemed to be supportive of His ministry, "For even his brothers didn't believe in him" John 7:5. He was subjected to mockery, to ridicule by his brothers, and this is because they had not yet submitted to His claim that He’s the Christ.
Anyway when the people saw him preaching in public, they said, "Can it be that our leaders have learned, after all, that he really is the Messiah? But how could he be? For we know where this man was born; when Christ comes, he will just appear and no one will know where he comes from." John 7:26-27.
Don’t we say the same of Antichrist, that he’ll just appear and no one will know where he comes from?
But he said, "You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me" John 7:28-29.
He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
