On their way to mount Olives, Jesus said to his disciples, "All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee" Mark 14:26-28.
"...It is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered..." Jesus is telling them all of you will fall away tonight, because it is written. But Peter said, "Even if everyone falls away, I will not."
Jesus once told some Sadducees, that "Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God" Matthew 22:29. Many of our mistakes and failures is due to lacking wisdom, not knowing the Scriptures or the power of God. Jesus wasn’t prophesying here, but knew from scripture what would happen at his arrest.
Peter kept insisting, "If I have to die with you, I will never deny you." And they all said the same thing.
And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.
A few hours later, Peter was cursing and swearing denying the Lord; "I don’t know him" just as Jesus had spoken the word to him.
Paul says, "these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith." "But thou [Timothy] hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, persecutions, afflictions...’ 2 Timothy 3:10. Embrace the truth of the word of God, never resist the written word.
In the ship to Rome, Paul says,
"Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss. And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship. For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me." Acts 27:21-25.
I would like also to say to you, as you hearken to the word of God - fear not.
I said Jesus knew from scripture what would happen at his arrest; that God will smite the shepherd and the sheep would scatter, he prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him and said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt" Mark 14:36. You also my friend, yes all things are possible, but remember God does not change that written. He says, "I the Lord have spoken it : it shall come to pass, and I will do it ; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord God." Ezekiel 24:14. He said, "For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed" Malachi 3:6.
Jesus said it is written, and according to what is written; "after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee" Hallelujah!!
And all that came to pass!
God bless you,
