In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men, John 1:1-4 KJV.
In the beginning of creation the Word (logos) was already in existence with God as God’s spoken word.
"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." John 1:14-17.
Jesus is The Word that created all things. In him was life, all life is given by Jesus. "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men." John 1:3-4. The true Light, "lighteth every man that cometh into the world" John 1:9.
The life that was in Jesus was to be a Light for people meaning his gospel truth, the good news is intended to be your light, holiness, deliverance and protection.
"He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:11-14.
Spiritual birth is an act of God; "So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy" Romans 9:16.
The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth. Jesus is the Word, the true Light, the One and Only Son, the Lamb of God, Rabbi or Teacher, Messiah or Christ, the Son of God, the King of Israel, the Son of Man, and the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit. "And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace" John 1:16.
Hear this declaration, it is written; "And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not" John 1:5.
John the Baptist said, "And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God" John 1:34. Looking upon Jesus as he walked, he said, Behold the Lamb of God!
When two disciples of John heard this, they followed Jesus. They each began to witness to their own brothers and friends saying "We have found the Messiah" (which means "Christ"). If you’re still quiet about him it may mean you still haven’t known much about him yet. Right now he’s saying to you come follow me. You and I should be in the business of finding disciples for him. When we do, Jesus says, "I tell you the truth, you will all see heaven open and the angels of God going up and down on the Son of Man, the one who is the stairway between heaven and earth."
