The Lord appointed seventy-two other disciples, and he sent them ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself was about to go.
He told them, "The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest" Luke 10:2.
Would you know if God would call you Today, and for what? Now is the time for harvest, but believers who understand their calling are few. At the end of the chapter there is the story of Martha and Mary who had both answered the call, but Martha had not understood hers, and was worried and upset about many things, and had forgotten what was necessary. Jesus said "Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her."
This happens with many of us folks, we are easily distracted, and we tend to chase after wind.
Anyway, he said to to his disciples, therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest, and he said now go!
"Now go; I'm sending you out like lambs among wolves" Luke 10:3.
As you go my friend, know that it’s a dangerous mission and your dependence on the Lord of the harvest should be 100%.
But the disciples went off and returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name."
And Jesus said to them, "I watched Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Look, I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; nothing at all will harm you. However, don't rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." Luke 10:18-20. HALLELUJAH !!
Then he rejoiced in the spirit, and said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, because this was your good pleasure. All things have been entrusted to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son desires to reveal him." Luke 10:21-22.
And he turned to his disciples, and said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see: For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them." Luke 10:23-24.
These things we preach have not been given to the wise and intelligent but to you who believe. Many prophets and kings had wanted to know them but this knowing has come to you because it pleased the Father to do so.
