The day Jesus rose from the dead many notable conspiracy theories surfaced even among his followers, "For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead." John 20:9.
Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. She then went back and reported it to Simon Peter, and the other disciples, that "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him."
They then went to the tomb together, and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there. They got in saw and believed the report that he has been taken away for real. So the disciples went away to their own homes, and Mary stayed behind.
My friend, our Faith should not be based on ideas intended to explain something. We don’t believe basing on explanations of what people think God is, explanations that are based on assumptions, but we believe because we know the Scriptures, these were written that you may know, and believe. Jesus said, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again" John 3:6-7. Anyway, that’s another subject.
But, "Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. Then they said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him." John 20:11-13.
Like many of us, she is still holding on to the conspiracy theory. But she "turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus."
There are Christians like that, who hold on to conspiracy theories which divert them from seeing as they should, and all they do is weep and pay emotional tribute to Christ.
"Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?" She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, "Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away." John 20:15.
Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to Him, "Rabboni!" (which is to say, Teacher).
Wow, she turned; and all the speculation is gone, but she has a new task now to go and spread the gospel of truth, not hypothesis, but as it is written.
Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.'"
Now she came and told the other disciples that she has seen the Lord, and that He has spoken these things to her. She isn’t forming a theory anymore without firm evidence like some false prophets do, who’re busy theorising , hypothesising, supposing the gospel, and guess-working prophecies.
Jesus said to her, "...but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.'"
Peace be unto you!
Today we're continuing from where I left yesterday. We left when Jesus had sent Mary Magdalene to go and tell His brethren, that He was ascending to the Father, and your Father; His God, and your God.
So Mary came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things to her.
But her conspiracy theory was so powerful, it had taken root among the disciples who had believed her - that the Jews had taken him away and laid him somewhere.
When they heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, this time they believed her not. Now Mary is stranded finding it difficult to reverse or convince them from what she had initially stated - they had believed her bad theology with all their hearts.
The two disciples to whom he appeared to on the road to Emmaus, came with the same good report, but the other disciples did not believe them either.
Jesus had to do something so that they all believe - he had to appear to them all so they could all believe and flow together. So Jesus showed himself to his disciples again and again, and in Chapter 21 he ate with them.
"Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise. This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead." John 21:12-14.
Conspiracy theories are based on assumptions not truth. They are reinforced by circular reasoning; bad exegesis, bad hermeneutics, misinterpretation of scriptures and speculation. We’ve seen some preachers rise to fame and become the godfathers of the Faith not because they teach truth, but conspiracy theories and a bad expository.
So now we see a mushroom of so called ministries or churches rising but based on mere speculation and bad theology, not scripture or truth. And like Thomas they defend themselves with all their souls. But Jesus said to Thomas, "Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing."
Be willing to change when you’re confronted with truth, don’t remain skeptic, a pessimist, or doubter of that written, but peace be unto you. Believe what’s written even if your favourite pastor or prophet has not preached it yet. Job 32:21 says, "Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man." What is peace? And you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.
"And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God, but Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."
Now on, he who comes to God must first believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
