In the book, Jesus says I AM;
- the bread of life, 6:35
- the Light of the world, 8:12
- the door, 10:9
- the good shepherd, 10:11
- the resurrection and the life, 11:25, 26
- the way, and the truth, and the life 14:6
- The Vine, 15:5
And each ”I AM" adds another layer of understanding of His character, and the miracles He performed illustrates His identity as the Son of God so that you can place your confidence in Him because of His divine nature.
John said, "as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God" John 1:12-13. Anyone who believes in Him has been given that power. Allow the word of Faith to increase in you; and I hear John the Baptist say;
"He must increase, but I must decrease. He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" John 3:30-36.
My friend, if the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed, You shall be set free even from evil workers, those preachers who speak of this Earth, who think preaching psychology, the wisdom of this world is godliness. Remember he that cometh from heaven is above all; he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.
Anyway to be born again one needs more than just transformation or recognition that God is there or that He was with Jesus. He said to Nicodemus, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" John 3:3. And he explained what it means to be born again, that it is a spiritual birth; to be born of water (spiritual cleansing) and of the Spirit is it that matters. And he said, "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again" John 3:7. One needs a radical conversion by the Spirit of God. Jesus is telling Nicodemus, a religious leader, a Pharisee, an educated man, and an earnest man, one blameless out of the outward appearance to not marvel that I said to you, “You must be born again." That which is born of the flesh is flesh. Without the new birth of the Spirit, the flesh spoils all works of righteousness. We must be born of water and the Spirit.
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son to be lifted up on the Cross for us, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved, "That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life" John 3:15. Anyone who believes in Him has eternal life.
For you to enter into the kingdom of God you’ve to first be born again. The spirit of Christ is it that makes you to have eternal life. "That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed" Romans 9:8. "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." John 3:6. In Christ or under the new covenant, it is just not enough to know that God is there, to say "we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him" "for he that cometh to God must BELIEVE that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" Hebrews 11:6. "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt CONFESS with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt BELIEVE IN THINE HEART that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" Romans 10:8-10. Paul says, "We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you" 2 Corinthians 4:13-14. So under the new dispensation we moved from an OT belief of Faith without works to demonstrating that we have Faith by actually doing the truth.
Jesus said , "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God" John 3:18-21.
So when we say we believe we are saying we trust in God, we live by the truth of God’s Word and we are doing what God wants us to.
