The ways of the Gentiles

Thus says the LORD: "Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them , Jeremiah 10:2 NKJV. Gentiles are the people of this world; are people who care for the things of this life, who glory in flesh and blood, but sit in darkness and the shadow of death.  The LORD said, first, " Do not learn the way of the Gentiles, " second, do not listen to their foolish predictions, and thirdly, Jesus sending His disciples said," Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. " Matthew 10:5. Why? Because their ways are futile and foolish. This world is their portion, but us Christians, as Jesus was so are we in this world - strangers and pilgrims, for we are of God. All the wealth that you see around is the world's goods, but our treasure is above, and our help comes from there too. 1 John 3:14-15 says, " We know that we have passed from death to life, because w

Wise men from the East

After Jesus was born, wise men from the East came  to worship him bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh with them. Many people came to  worship him; shepherds, kings, and angels also. Shepherds came to a manger but these wise men came to the house where Mary were with the child. They came from the East to Jerusalem, asking, "Where is He who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East, and have come to worship him." When King Herod heard this, he was frightened and all Jerusalem with him; and calling together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born.  They told him, " In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it has been written by the prophet: ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel. ’”  Then Herod secretly called for the wise men and learned from them the exact time when th

Lay Up Treasures in Heaven

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also, Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV. Treasure is anything much loved or highly valued by a person. It is that you cherish, esteem, adore, idolise, highly appreciate or worship. For some people it’s wealth such as money, jewels, or precious metals and others, and people such as family and friends, politicians, prophets or celebrities. Take this as a fact my friend, whatever it is you gather on Earth,  you will one day lose it or be disappointed regardless. But the treasure in heaven, no one would be able to take that from you. Jesus said to Martha, " I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live, "John 11:25. He said, " He who loves his life w

Pray to your Father in heaven

When you pray, especially yourself my friend, pray to your Father in heaven. Remember that God is in heaven, He’s your Heavenly Father; He’s not a man, He does not see as man sees, but He looks at the heart, He weighs the spirit.  So when you pray to him, you should not be like hypocrites who love to pray standing in the synagogues, on the street corners, screaming on top of their voices and making long prayers even on social media to be seen of men. No matter the effort, they get it wrong anyway. Don’t pray the way heathens do, those who practice necromancy, enchantment and divination, for they think they will be heard for their many words. If that’s what you do my friend, no wonder some prayers are ignored, and some efforts vain.  " Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him ," Matthew 6:8. Your Father is in heaven, that’s His secret place, far far away. Remember also that,  " God is Spirit, and those who worship

The serpent Leviathan!

In that day the LORD with His severe sword, great and strong, Will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan that twisted serpent; And He will slay the reptile that is in the sea, Isaiah 27:1. The devil is that large and powerful serpent, the same old dragon; him and his angels have been on the run fleeing.  Jesus said, " I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! " Luke 10:18.  There was war in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels.  Leviathan was defeated and " was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him, " Revelation 12:9. Christ saw them defeated, and no place was found for them in heaven any longer.  He defeated him on Earth too, and this time for you and me who believe in him and said; " Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power

A lion, my Lord!

One night Isaiah had a distressing vision; he was dismayed by what he saw for  the night for which he longed had turned into fear. It’s common with most of us these days, that on a normal day you feel like danger, fear,  anxiety or harm is entering your house. Isaiah said I was distressed when I heard it. So he woke up and advised the princes to; " Prepare the table, Set a watchman in the tower, Eat and drink. Arise, you princes, Anoint the shield! For thus has the Lord said to me: "Go, set a watchman, Let him declare what he sees. " Isaiah 21:5-6. So a watchman was set, and at night he listened, and day he looked with great care, and what he was seeing was each time increasing his fear. " He saw a chariot with a pair of horsemen, A chariot of donkeys, and a chariot of camels, And he listened earnestly with great care. Then he cried, "A lion, my Lord!" Isaiah 21:7-8. " And look, here comes a chariot of men with a pair of horsemen!" Then he answer

Such is our expectation!

Isaiah said a message came to me, (from chapter 15 through to 20) concerning Moab, Syria, Ethiopia, Egypt and even Israel. It wasn’t an ordinary message but a burden affecting many generations.  He saw what life was like before Christ, it was unbearable; all people were gripped by fear, and because they had no respect for God they would helplessly sorrow and mourn to their idols, but no matter how much they prayed to these other gods/idols they " would not prevail ," Isaiah 16:12. God wasn’t hearing them either. Everyone would wail bitterly because of their troubles, life itself was intolerable and burdensome.  But Isaiah 16:5 says only " in mercy the throne will be established; And One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David, Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness ." So when Jesus came he became man’s saviour, and in his days onwards, man again began looking to his Maker, and once again his eyes had "respect for the Holy One of Isr

I have also called My mighty ones!

Isaiah saw in the spirit the end of times, he saw our days and said; " Behold, the day of the LORD comes, Cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, To lay the land desolate; And He will destroy its sinners from it, " Isaiah 13:9. But before it is the end, the Lord will muster an army for battle, and that battle is on my friend.  First he wants you to be part of that army who will " Lift up a banner on the high mountain, Raise your voice to them; Wave your hand, that they may enter the gates of the nobles, " Isaiah 13:2.  That banner is the good news of Jesus Christ that you and me have to bring to the nations.  He wants you to; Lift up a banner on the high mountain , i.e., to let our light so shine before all men. Raise our voice , i.e., preach, teach, proclaim the glad tiding of the kingdom of God to them. Wave our hands , i.e., direct people to salvation. It is a command my friend, actually He said, " I have commanded My sanctified ones; I have also called My

Permit it to be so now

Reverend Muzembi  Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me? Matthew 3:13-14. This reminds me of some fellowships where a senior pastor would rather stay at home than to attend a service of a junior pastor, but tell you what my friend, we are all sons of light and sons of the day, we sharpen each other. Anyone should be able to baptise you, preach to you, or lay hands on you in the name of the Lord; whether it’s Peter, Paul or Apollos. Jesus said, " Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. " Matthew 3:15. Will you be kind enough to baptise me also my friend?  Especially today when it’s my birthday, that you look at me and bless or pray me?  Anyway, Jesus once said to his disciples; " You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise aut

Forgive us our debts

For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses , Matthew 6:14-15. After what God has done for us we will forever be indebted to him, we owe Him a debt of gratitude for what Christ Jesus accomplished for us through His death on the cross.  Deliverance is not based on our good deeds; it is based on God’s plan of salvation for us, the act of propitiation, redemption, justification, reconciliation and righteousness through Christ and of our faith in him. God is or was angry with mankind, and appeasing his wrath will cause us to be reconciled to him.  Now God Himself has provided for us the only means through which His wrath can be appeased and that we sinful men can be reconciled to Him. There is no service, sacrifice, or gift that man can offer that will appease the wrath of God or satisfy His perfect justice. The only satisfaction, or propitiation, that c
