Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also, Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV.
Treasure is anything much loved or highly valued by a person. It is that you cherish, esteem, adore, idolise, highly appreciate or worship.
For some people it’s wealth such as money, jewels, or precious metals and others, and people such as family and friends, politicians, prophets or celebrities.
Take this as a fact my friend, whatever it is you gather on Earth, you will one day lose it or be disappointed regardless.
But the treasure in heaven, no one would be able to take that from you. Jesus said to Martha, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live,"John 11:25. He said, "He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life," John 12:25. And again He said to Peter,"Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life," Luke 18:29-30. "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field," Matthew 13:44
I neither said give money to church nor did I say don’t give, but the scripture said lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven my friend, where neither moth nor rust destroys. I told you that treasure is that you cherish, and you my friend cherish, esteem, adore, appreciate or worship God.
God bless you,
Laurence
