2021 don’t just worship anyhow, but as a believer, you should KNOW what’s expected of you. We can’t assume every believer knows what is supposed to be done, known, when, and to what quality of level.
God has made SIMPLE how you should come to the knowledge of truth, and after you have known, do it.
In my Simple Gospel Summation, SIMPLE is acronym, and each letter has a meaning. As I write I;
- Set expectations and goals upfront.
- Invite believers for Commitment
- Measure Progress
- Provide Feedback
- Link/Share Consequences
- Evaluate Effectiveness
This is what God expects of us, and we also SET same expectations and goals for ourselves, and INVITE commitment from others, that as believers they also MEASURE their progress, PROVIDE feedback, Link/ share and then EVALUATE effectiveness.
As we journey together, know what is expected of you my friend, and if you preach, set yourself standards, set clear expectations and goals upfront. When the goals are clear and are effective, invite other believers or your friends to commit to them too. Just because Christians know what to do doesn’t mean they will do it.
After goals and expectations are set, believers need to commit to achieving them. This they do when they understand two things;
- how it will benefit them personally, and
- how the goals will help the church at large to move forward.
Once this connection is made they are more likely to buy into the goals, and actually welcome you holding them accountable for the results.
I said measure progress, goals are only measurable when they are quantified. Is it working? How, and for who?
Provide feedback, proof that it’s working and that it should be employed by all. Share with other believers the information you gather so that we may rejoice together. Faith that only works for one person in church isn’t genuine faith. Believers need feedback to improve in areas where performance is falling short of expectations. Most of the time giving, giving objective, behavioural feedback is all it takes.
Setting expectations followed by quality feedback is the backbone of holding someone accountable for results. We want fruit. Sometimes believers need a little external motivation to live up to their commitments. This is the reason why we gather in our fellowships, it’s so that we may evaluate the effectiveness of our faith together.
2021 - know the truth.
God bless you,
Laurence
