Are you listening?

Hearing actively, or listening to God is key for the believers in their walk with him. The question is, are you a good listener? Sometimes we think that we are good listeners but God himself says we are all not good listeners.  He says to Ezekiel, "Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, which has eyes to see but does not see, and ears to hear but does not hear; for they are a rebellious house," Ezekiel 12:2. So what we call listening is sometimes the opposite of what God expects us to be doing.  Listening, but not giving Him your full attention isn’t listening. Being a good listener means setting aside every distraction, and focusing fully, and not paying attention to what will be going on in your head while you’re listening. You’re definitely not listening if you’re just planning what you’re going to say next.  Telling God what you are going to be doing isn’t listening, and so is praying. There is a time for everything; a time to pray, a time to listen and

Learn to persevere…

If you want to change your life for the good, you will probably need to learn to persevere and prevail. Continue fighting until you obtain! Perseverance is persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success, and prevailing is to triumph or defeat an opponent especially in a long or difficult contest. Satan is a great example, he is your chief opposer, but he does not work alone - he works with situations, and evil workers also, who are just there to make you stumble. But 1 Peter 5:8-9 says, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith… " Zechariah saw in a vision, that no one should get through life’s challenges without help. The problem with spiritual warfare you will be frustrated if you want to do it alone. You can’t do anything for yourself, you can’t even stand up. Noticing Joshua’s dilemma, " the LORD said to Satan, "The LORD

The Spectacles of Love

We know God through love, loving one another.  "He who does not love does not know God, for God is love," 1 John 4:8. "Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another," 1 John 4:11 Only love gives us the assurance we want, that we know him, we have no fear, but boldness on the day of judgment. But love  aught to have been perfected among us to see us through. He who claims he knows God must first wear his spectacles of love, “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him,” 1 John 4:16.  Jesus said it’s a new commandment, and you as a believer should realise how important it is to love, to love your brother also. One can’t see as they should without the spectacles of love. Who is a liar? One whose speech is cheap, measly and worthless; who says I love God, yet hates his brother or sister, that kind of love or faith is substandard, is below what is required. There is yet

You’re unique

Think what a remarkable, none duplicatable and miraculous thing it is to be you! Of all the people who have come and gone on the earth, since the beginning of time, not ONE of them is like YOU! No one who has ever lived or is to come has had your combination of abilities, talents, appearance, friends, acquaintances, burdens, sorrows and opportunities. No one’s hair grows exactly the way yours does. No one’s finger prints are like yours. No one has the same combination of secret inside jokes and family expressions that you know. The few people who laugh at all the same things you do, don’t sneeze the way you do. No one prays about exactly the same concerns as you do. No one is loved by the same combination of people that love you – NO ONE! No one before, no one to come. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE! Enjoy that uniqueness. You do not have to pretend in order to seem more like someone else. You weren’t meant to be like someone else. You do not have to lie to conceal the parts of you that a

Strive for a crown!

The kingdom of God does not come with observation! "Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God does not come with observation,” Luke 17:20 You will not say, 'See here!' or 'See there!' We are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, and those who are seeing us think we’re playing games, although is, but the only difference is ours are real. It is the real show, and we’ve all been lured to playing a series of games from which the winner will emerge victorious - that we are indeed set free. But it’s just not enough to be successful in one game, you got to win all of them to win. The Pharisees thought they were the winners, and so they demanded the kingdom, and today some preachers may think it’s the end too. The Pharisees laid demands probably knowing that the new game Jesus was preaching about would be gruesome for them. So they thought, let the game now e

He knows deceitful men

"For He knows deceitful men; He sees wickedness also. Will He not then consider it?" Job 11:11 Deceitful men are they who say God has called them when He has not. These speak wickedly for God regardless of what they say which sometimes is true, for they secretly show partiality for Him. Their womb prepares oppression and deceit, or simply speaking they walk in falsehood. Deceit comes from within their spirit. Jesus said, "Hear and understand: Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man," Matthew 15:10-11, and verse 19 says, “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.” You want to thrive in the things of God?  David says, then “Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it,” Psalm 34:13-14.  Depart from evil, from deceit, deception or misrepresentation. It’s not good for

Receive the promise of the Spirit

It is God who supplies the Spirit to you, and you receive the promise of the Spirit through faith, Galatians 3:14. You receive the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ our Lord who has redeemed us that this blessing may also come upon you. The Holy Spirit has already been poured out into the world. Peter said, "Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear," Acts 2:33. So He already has been poured out as a drink, and now is the right time for you to receive him.  Who receives the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit was poured out, or sent from heaven to be received by you and me who believe in the gospel of Christ and us who want to worship God in the spirit of Jesus Christ. The Father Himself promised and He has already given us His Holy Spirit. How do you receive Him? Since the Holy Spirit has already been poured out from heaven. He is meanwhile hovering arou

He gave us the Holy Spirit to help us please God

The Holy Spirit was given for our good. He gave us the Holy Spirit to set a seal on us, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God," Romans 8:14. I love verse 16-17, it says, "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs-heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.  How do you suffer with him? Remember my friend, that the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Therefore, fear God and be spiritually minded; serve God according to the spirit of holiness, according to the righteousness requirement of the law, walking in the spirit and in newness of life. "Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body," Romans 8:23.
