"He who does not love does not know God, for God is love," 1 John 4:8.
"Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another," 1 John 4:11
Only love gives us the assurance we want, that we know him, we have no fear, but boldness on the day of judgment. But love aught to have been perfected among us to see us through.
He who claims he knows God must first wear his spectacles of love, “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him,” 1 John 4:16. Jesus said it’s a new commandment, and you as a believer should realise how important it is to love, to love your brother also. One can’t see as they should without the spectacles of love.
Who is a liar?
One whose speech is cheap, measly and worthless; who says I love God, yet hates his brother or sister, that kind of love or faith is substandard, is below what is required.
There is yet another, who says, "I have come to know him," and yet doesn't keep his commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him," 1 John 2:4. This is where many of us are, us who make claims, but are found wanting. It’s very unfortunate that some don’t even try to keep his commandments, no effort at all. One thing I like about Seventh Day Adventists is at least they try.
It is one who says, "they will," but do not do as they have claimed that they have knowledge of something. They claim that they have the spirit of God, but they live like jackals, "And we have this command from him: The one who loves God must also love his brother and sister."
The one who loves God must also love his brother and sister.
